Champions League: PSG expert on “That’s a threat to Bayern Munich”

The meeting of Paris St. -Germain and FC Bayern Munich next Wednesday (20.45 hrs in the LIVETICKER) could not only have sporting consequences.Economic expert Henning Zülch explained to the business insider the economic relevance of this game and warned against a future loss of the Bundesliga in an international comparison.

According to Zülch, FC Bayern is one of the best managed clubs in the world, but one has to find solutions on Säbener Strasse to counteract the new competition “What happens if Bavaria loses 0:3 in Paris? Then PSG is all of a sudden at the forefront of international perception. This is a danger for Bavaria,”said the 44-year-old, according to which competition has changed dramatically:”The problem is that Bavaria is currently running out of the market. In the past, no sums of money were paid for new players that threatened their existence. The top clubs are therefore dependent on a certain willingness to take risks, which many Bundesliga clubs are still afraid of.

According to Zülch, the question arises of how the clubs intend to counteract the newly created competition.RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund seem to be betting on young talents, but the renowned scientist warns of the consequences that this strategy could have:”This cannot be a permanent solution until the clubs manage to keep the players. At the moment they have to allow themselves to move to Spain or England later. The Bundesliga is on its way to becoming a training league.”

In return, the Dortmund economist points out a different path:”Strategic partnerships and alliances are needed, as Bavaria and Dortmund have already entered into. The funders must be companies whose brand awareness increases with the increasing success of the association – and vice versa.”.
