Säbener Straße suddenly became a “lion’s territory”: Unknown jokers stuck one to FC Bayern. The “perpetrators”, presumably fans of local rival 1860 Munich, stuck over several street signs with the lettering “Grünwalder Str.” on the club grounds of the German soccer record champion and annoyed the big neighbours.
At SID’s request, the Munich police confirmed the process that had first been reported by the Bild-Zeitung. “We had an operation there and are investigating on suspicion of damage to property,” a spokesman said. This would be the case, for example, if a “loss of substance” occurred on the labels when the blue and white stickers were removed.
The Bavarian site in the Harlaching district is only a few hundred metres away from the Löwen on Grünwalder Strasse in Giesing. A little further into town, on Grünwalder Straße, lies the legendary “Sechzgerstadion”, which Bayern fans call the “Hermann-Gerland-Kampfbahn”. Once it was the venue of both clubs, now the Lions play there 3rd league and the second team of the Bayern Regionalliga.
