Bundesliga: Rummenigge: Kovac "has to change a few things"

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has expressed his confidence in coach Niko Kovac. It is “the wish of all of us at FC Bayern that we work together with Niko Kovac for a long time”, Rummenigge told AZ.

“I hope that he will not only be our trainer on Christmas Eve 2018, but also on Christmas Eve 2019 and 2020,” explained 63-year-olds and added: “He knows Bayern Munich. He is an extreme character – in a positive sense. He’s a man I like.”

Recently, doubts about Kovac had germinated in view of the continuing earnings crisis of the German record champion. Rummenigge called on the coach in this regard: “I see a coach who fights, who is willing to change a few things. And he has to change a few things, too.”

“Everyone is willing to give Niko Kovac this chance. At the end of the day, of course, the results must be right. Fifth place is not the place that can be occupied at the end of the season,” Rummenigge continued.

In addition, the CEO was also asked about his successor as well as Bavarian President Uli Hoeneß. “It won’t be easy to find a new Hoeneß or a successor for me,” Rummenigge assured, but made it equally clear: “No decision has been made yet.”
